What’s Up
So the Dead Man Stalking by TA Moore ends today at TA Moore Writes…and no, I have never successfully written anything short. Go and check out the end of the story, find out more about my book, and enter to win prizes! Most of the blog tour stops still have a few days left on the competitions if you haven’t entered yet!
I will be—hopefully!—putting it together in a file and uploading as a mobi/pdf before I had over to San Diego. I’ll drop it here once I do.
Don’t forget to enter for a chance to win the Fire Tablet! It is to celebrate my 10th book with Dreamspinner!
I am not fully packed for my trip to San Diego. Except for my make up, which has suffered an unfortunate housing crisis. I need a new make-up bag, basically. It sounds simple but it’s going to take me a while to decide between holographic and black sequins. So…
Now that the blog tour has finished, the next thing up is the cover reveal for my upcoming book Swipe which is on Sept 21 at Boy Meets Boy. I can’t wait to hear what you guys think of the cover! I won’t have Swipe for GRL, it’s not out until December, but I WILL have some swag for anyone who’s there! They are pretty cool!
Oh and don’t forget! 13 Oct we’ll do an AMA :D.
Book Rec of the Week
Check out His Fairy Prince by JS Harker this week. It’s the second in the Tit for Tat series from Dreamspun Beyond and I think we can all agree…no one should reunite with the Lord of Spiders! Eek!
Tit For Tat: Book Two
A trick of fairy magic becomes a romantic treat.
Halloween is fantasy-loving college senior Greg’s favorite holiday, and he’s thrilled to explore a spooky puzzle—even if his friends prefer slashers over witchcraft. Luckily the gorgeous and otherworldy Alaric wants to sneak time alone with him. Unluckily Greg’s sworn off hookups. Still reeling from an intoxicating kiss, Greg opens a secret door…
…and steps through a portal to the enchanted realm Alaric is destined to rule.
Stranded with the alluring Greg, Alaric sets off across his kingdom with the man who might be the consort he’s always wanted. It won’t be easy—Alaric’s ex, the Lord of Spiders, wants to reunite with Alaric—but if Greg and Alaric succeed, they’ll find what they’ve always wanted: a place to belong.

Neriah, the crown prince of Tazier, escapes his father’s deadly wrath with the help of a Jinn named Tamir. Knowing that the other Jinn would find and punish him for falling in love with a human, Tamir takes Neriah’s memories of their brief time together and leaves him with only a jade pendant as a token of his love. Tamir is then stripped of his powers and imprisoned for his crime.
Ten years later, Neriah is still on the run from the King’s assassins, but each night he dreams of a lover whose face he cannot see and whose name he does not know, but who fills his heart with peace. Tamir, freed at last from his prison cell, poses as a pleasure slave and offers to serve the prince. Although Neriah does not recognize Tamir, he falls in love with the powerless Jinn. But just when Tamir has earned Neriah’s trust, he is forced to betray it. There may be no hope of mending their broken relationship, but Tamir is determined to see Neriah on his rightful throne—even if it costs the Jinn his life.

Science Has Figured Out Why You Love the Smell of Old Books
Do you like to have your nose in a book? No, we’re not talking figuratively. Something about the scent of old books can perk up any bookworm. And turns out, there’s a legitimate reason that dusty old pages actually smell good.
Most of what we smell comes from volatiles organic compounds (VOCs), which books give off as they decompose over time. University College London researchers extracted its VOCs from a 1928 French novel they found at a used bookstore. (Find out where to donate your own old books.) Volunteers blindly sniffed extracts from the book, plus seven other unlabeled scents ranging from chocolate and coffee to fish market and dirty linen.
Useless Site of the Week
I will acknowledge IMMEDIATELY that this site should not be as funny as it actually is.
Poetry of the Week
I went to university with Mark and he’s VERY GOOD! He’s got a contract for a poetry collection, but keep an eye out for his prose work too! I critiqued one of his short stories once thusly, “It’s beautiful, and weird, and I hate you that it’s so good!”. His writing is like taking a ride with a local taxi driver, the route is not one you’d have taken but turns out it’s the only one that made sense.
