What’s Up?
Split Shift by TA Moore is out now!
Book 3 is in the works. I’ll let you know when the pre-order is up! I just need to fine tune the timing. Indie publishing is EXHAUSTING, y’all. Plus my editor insists I need to include justice for the guinea pigs :D. Make of that what you will if you haven’t read the books!
In other news I’ve got an appointment to get my hair cut! The first time in over a year. I am torn between cutting it all off and keeping it longish. I haven’t had it properly long since…
…geeze, since I was twenty three? Twenty something. It used to be down to my butt! And my natural colour :D
I also considered getting lowlights and growing out all my purple to go grey naturally. I probably won’t though, because:
One side of my family go grey in striking, dramatic fashion. Like streaks and swoops and just going cotton white after a horrible stint in hospital. The other side has this drab salt and pepper grey that crawls in around your ears and under your fringe. Guess what side I take after?
Have you met me? I will fully get bored with the whole growing out the dye thing and, at the point where I only have two inches of treated hair left, I’ll take a funny run and dye it pink again.
The cheaper option is to cut your hair short and grow it out from there. I don’t think it would suit me and I have always worried my skull might be funny shape under the hair.

Recommendation of the Week
I’m a sucker for an unconventional dragon story, what can I say?! I blame Barbara Hambly!
I read this the first time on tumblr. Back then it had only gotten to Antler Guy and the kitten, but there have been more chapters since!
Must Read of the Week
There’s something compelling about collections. I don’t really have the concentration span to be a Proper Collector. I have all the Hellblazer GNs, a lot of the Sandman ones, and I’ve seen every large and small screen performance by Mark Pellegrino. Proper collecting though—trading, valuing, sourcing—requires too much commitment. I’d get distracted by something new or cheated and that would spoil the whole thing for me. Still, it’s always amazing to talk to someone who’s truly committed to a collection. The more single-minded the better. The depth of knowledge is just amazing, not just about the item they collect but the ephemera around it.
Passion is contagious, even if they have a lifetime dose and you shed it once you get home and display your new hoard for a week.
‘Canventions!’ How cute is that?
They Meet Up in Motels Across America…to Trade Old Beer Cans
I’m on a hike with my husband along the C&O Canal in Washington, D.C., when he leaps off the path, slides down an incline, and begins digging through the dark, wet leaves near the water’s edge. As oncoming hikers approach he surfaces with a rusty can, dirt clinging to its sides.
“Black Label, about 1965!” he exclaims, walking up to the path from the muck.
The hikers pass. I cringe and avoid eye contact.
“The can has ants on it,” I say. “Is it coming in the car with us?”
“Of course.”
This tickles me so. I am delighted.
