Shout-Out of the Week
Honestly, it’s hard to lose me when you lead with sex scandals and family secrets.
Nico Andretti knows one thing is true: Love is for fools.
Being a tour bus guide in Times Square isn’t his dream job and he yearns for more than living in his mother’s basement apartment, but life is tough in the big city.
At least the men on the bus are eye-candy galore, and they’re one and done. Why bother with seconds when you’ll only get hurt? And Nico knows hurt—he’s got a father he’s never met and an ex who broke his heart and shattered his self-esteem.Then Dr. Ford St. Claire takes his tour, and Nico enjoys his own personal sightseeing of the gorgeous older man. In a twist of fate they meet again that evening and share drinks, confidences, and a night of flirting. Now Ford is gone for good. Home to Florida.
Until he shows up the next month.
And the next…
It’s just a fling.
Right? But the more time they spend together, the more Nico realizes being broke doesn’t matter. Nor does the distance between them. What matters is how Ford makes him feel—loved, appreciated, and respected. And Nico is determined to give Ford the one thing his cheating ex couldn’t—a loving family.
When secrets and scandals threaten them both, their love is put to the test. Maybe they’ll crash and burn…but Nico doesn’t think so.
All that matters is finding their forever. And doing it together.
This made me laugh so hard!
I ACTUALLY had this conversation with a friend before the TikTok went viral. I think that it’s silly to declare shorts inappropriate for work when skirts and dresses are ok. What’s the difference?
Obviously some shorts wouldn’t pass muster - if you rock up in lyrca you know you’re getting a look - but that is the same as any other item of clothing. It should be judged on a case by case basis.
Of course, I have a: never had an office dress code and b: I probably wouldn’t fall far afoul of it if I did since my clothing choices tend to fall somewhere between boring and basic.
*That’s sort of a lie. People have questioned my footwear before, but I wore Doc Martens to the interview, don’t know you’re surprised I wear them to work. Plus, your fancy new heels have you standing in a literal puddle of blood so I’m not gonna change!
Are shorts appropriate for work? This viral TikTok reignited an old controversy
After being sent home from an interview for wearing shorts, this TikTok creator says she won’t be going back.
Tyreshia Morgan attended a job interview in a simple pair of black shorts. She was sent home, with the recruiter offering to reschedule when she wore something more appropriate. After posting it on TikTok, some commenters bewailed the persistence of strict dress codes, while others say that shorts are never appropriate in the workplace.
Regarding shorts, I guess it depends on the shorts and company. I wouldn't rock up in something I would wear to the gym, but a dressy pair that's not to short or tight might be okay-ish. I think most of us see shorts as a gym/workout/casual/kid/garden/summer-wear, and they have no professional connotation at all.
